Week 1 results

VOILA! Just like that, Week 1 for 2020 is on the books! And what a start too!

Coming in 1st Place, all hail Jake "From State Farm" who went 10 for 10 and had a perfect score of 55 points! Applauso!>:o Applauso!>:o Applauso!>:o Looks like our 2015 Champion means business this year and has served notice early.
Without checking too far back, I'm pretty sure that's the first 55 we've ever had in Week 1. Someone was close in 2016 with a 53 and it was none other than......., JakeFSF! He finished in 6th place that year but made some good cashish along the way.:-$ SO CONGRATS ON A PERFECT SCORE!8-)

Coming in tied for 2nd place and an impressive score of 49 points was our newest player, Pedro "For President" and long timer player Timmy "From Las Vegas". 3rd place was a three way tie at 47 between another first year player and son of last year's champ Jared, USC fan Theresa, and Yours Truly. Honorable mention goes to AdriaNNa just a point out at 46. CONGRATS TO ALL THE WINNERS?

So just a heads up on the point spreads. As I said, the commisioner is a food broker not a bookie so there might be some type O's. This week we had one, maybe two. The spread on the Rams vs Dallas was definitely reversed. But I didn't hear anything until almost game time on Sunday and that's too short of notice to be making changes. However, it didn't matter because the Rams won the game and covered the spread so the outcome would have been the same.

In the Denver vs Tennessee game, the spread opened with the Broncos at -3, but I think it flipped when Von Miller got hurt during the week. I checked during the game and a couple of the books still had Denver as the favorite at -2½.

Bottom line is, you can switch picks on any of your games before kickoff if you choose to. Unless I hear from someone about a Type O before the Thursday game, the spread that's on the website will probably remain, unless it is so far off that it needs to be fixed. If there's ever anything like that, please someone speak up.

Okay just a reminder that people can still get in the pool up to Week 4. So if any veterans or new people want in, you know the drill, I'M IN!

The Week 2 pick sheet will be out on Wednesday.

Commissioners opening address

OK everybody the 2020 season has begun. Here's to hoping it will finish too.

First thing, a YUGE thank you to my son Steven who built and maintains TWFP website for us, especially today on his 38th birthday. Happy Birthday Son!

So a big welcome back to all of the veterans to the 26th(?) annual version of TWFP. And let's give a warm welcome the new people in the water, a new Adriana with one N, a new Gary C, a new Jeff T, a new Jim K and just Jared. Good luck to you all and thanks again for your donation.

To those who opted out or any other newbies that want to join, we will allow entries up until week 4. They will have to pay the full $120 entry and will be given the league average points for the weeks they were not in.

They can still get in this week if it's before kickoff on Sunday.

So we have 48 entries and probably will get to 50+. Based on 48 players the weekly and overall payout will be four spots. If we get to 60 we will pay five spots.

$120, $60, $40 and $20 weekly and $500, $240, $160 and $60 overall. That will adjust if we add anymore players.

A note on the scoring, it is not automatically updated. I manually enter them as they change and as time permits. I will try to do the start of games, halftime, and end of games as best I can. Don't panic if it's not updated and your perfect score isn't showing yet.:-P All that probably won't be an issue but I have to mention it.

Sooooo that's it for now and 2nd place luck to you all.

Any questions, you know where to find me.

Week 20 recap and 2019 final results

Alrighty then, watching the NFL Flag Football League from Orlando and a good time to get this out before the Super Bowl.

Twenty people got both games right in the final week. That's a lot, but not as many as 2016 when 21 people had them both correct. Last year there were only seven.

Total points scored were 116, about 20 higher than the O/U. Taking 1st place in week 20 with the closest tie breaker was Sammy K and his 122. Just a point off with 123 taking 2nd was Chris C. 3rd place went to Jozlyn with 104. 4th was Cris E with 103 and 5th to Todd with 101. Honorable mentions were too many to mention.

A little correction from week 19, 5th place was actually Justin who had a closer TB then Brian. Update your score cards.lol

So with the most total overall points of 632, and The Champion of THE Weekly Football Pool 2019 is Jozlyn!!!!! She was in 1st almost every week but #1. She was tied by SteveF in week six, but had it all to herself the rest of the way.

Taking 2nd place was Jeremy who put up a good fight till the end but couldn't close the gap. 3rd place went to Brian F. He was in and out of the top group all season and might have gotten up to 2nd place for a week.

4th went to Todd who came on strong the last few weeks, and 5th went to Adrianna. This years honorable mention goes to Steve G who was oh so close on a few occasions. CONGRATS AGAIN TO ALL THE WINNERS!!!!!

Good job everyone getting yours picks in and making the job even easier AGAIN this year. And a YUGE thanks to my son Steven for maintaining the website and keeping things running so smoothly.

Hope everybody had a good NFL season and a fun time in TWFP 2019.

Enjoy the big game next week. I predict the red team will win the Super Bowl.

Larry E.
